Renaissance Brandon’s Vision for the Downtown HUB is to develop a destination neighborhood; a Place for People. Maintaining a well-balanced, diverse board of directors with complimentary skills, who promote downtown assets, build strong community support and develop strategic partnerships are foundational components to our success.

The Renaissance Brandon Board is comprised of 8 at large members, the Mayor, and the Rosser Ward City Councilor. All Board members are appointed by City Council.
The board is responsible for:
- governing the organization by establishing broad policies and objectives;
- selecting, appointing, and supporting the Downtown Development Specialist;
- providing leadership to board committees;
- ensuring the availability of adequate financial resources;
- approving annual budgets;
- accounting to the stakeholders for the organization’s performance;
- utilizing personal and professional skills, relationships, and knowledge for the advancement of Renaissance Brandon and the Downtown HUB
Renaissance Brandon meets the 3rd Monday of each month during the lunch hour for approximately 1.5 hours. It is estimated that preparation for board meetings and responding to periodic organizational correspondence requires on average 3 hours per month. From time to time special initiatives undertaken by the Board may require additional time from Board members.
Board Director Position Description and Expectations
Attend regular board meetings of Renaissance Brandon Board of Directors, which are each approximately one and a half hours in duration. The board meets at least twelve (12) times per year. Be accessible for personal contact in between board meetings and reply to organizational emails.
Provide leadership to board committees. Each board director is expected to serve as an active, ongoing member of at least one committee. This requires a number of meetings per year plus individual committee task completion time. Presently committees include the Business Attraction Committee, Community Development Committee, and the Communication Committee.
In addition, Renaissance Brandon utilizes a Strategic Advisory Committee (SAC) that meets once per month with staff to discuss projects and initiatives and make operational recommendations to the board. The SAC is made up of the Mayor, Chair person of the board and each of the committees.
Prepare in advance for decision-making and policy formation at board and committee meetings; take responsibility for self-education on the major issues before board meetings.
Responsibly review and act upon committee recommendations brought to the board for action.
Participate in the annual board strategic planning sessions.
In general, utilize personal and professional skills, relationships and knowledge for the advancement of Renaissance Brandon and the Downtown HUB.
If selected, it is also required to review the organizations’ orientation package and to attend an orientation with staff.
